Teams, tryouts and draft night

From registration to rosters, with a live draft night built in.

Once families have registered, put kids on teams the way your club already works: place them yourself, run tryouts for a specific team, or hold a draft where coaches pick from their phones. Then publish rosters, and every family hears their player's team and coach.

Three ways onto a team

Pick the way your club builds teams

You choose one during setup, with one plain question: how do kids get onto teams?

We place them ourselves

Add your teams, assign a coach to each, and move players onto rosters from one page.

They try out for a team

For travel ball: players try out for a specific team, you mark who made it, and the families you select get a single-use invite to register and pay.

Coaches draft teams

For community leagues: everyone registers into a group first, then coaches draft the teams live, or you auto-draft.

Draft night

One live board, on every coach's phone

Pick from a phone, or call it out

Coaches make their picks in turn from their own phones. An admin can also enter a pick for any team while coaches call them out in the room. Both can happen in the same draft.

Everyone sees the same board

Each pick shows up on every screen as it is made. Admins set the pick order (snake or straight), pause the draft, and undo the last pick.

Auto-draft by a rule you choose

Auto-draft the rest at any point: by school, by area, keeping siblings together, balancing by age, by tryout ratings, or at random. An admin can move anyone afterwards.

What coaches see

Only the group they coach. Name, age, school, a sibling flag and the notes your club chooses to share. Never payment information.

Tryouts

Tryout ratings, entered on a phone

At tryouts, coaches rate each player from 1 to 5 on a few skills your club chooses, right on their phones. Ratings are seen only by your directors and the coaches of that group. Families never see them.

On draft night, the ratings can feed the auto-draft, so teams come out balanced by skill as well as by size.

Rosters

From registration to rosters

  1. Families register into groups

Open registration by grade or age, paid up front, in one checkout.

  2. Place, try out or draft

Build teams by hand, from tryouts, or on draft night, then review and adjust.

  3. Publish rosters

Rosters stay private until you publish. Then each family is emailed their player's team and coach, once. Change a roster later and only the families affected hear again.

Through the season

Coaches, families and the whole club in view

Coach roster and emergency card

Each coach sees only their own team, on a page that loads fast on a phone: every parent's number with tap to call or email, the emergency contact, and the medical notes families share. Coaches can't download or export it.

Messaging families

Email a team or any filtered group from League, sent in your club's name. Replies go to the sender's own inbox. Coaches message only their own team, and every message is logged for your admins.

The People view

The whole club on one page, filtered by season, group, team, coach, payment status, waivers or scholarship. Message the filtered list, or download it if you are an admin.

Also built, and what's next

Camps, clinics and tryouts, uniforms in checkout and the Bougie Print team store are built too; Bougie Print orders connect at launch. So are treasurer reports, waitlists, volunteer shifts, coach checks and a parent and coach app with push notifications (see the app). The Bougie League app for iPhone and Android: coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. Until then, families and coaches add it to their phone’s home screen from the browser. Year-end donation receipts are coming soon.
